Fruit d’Or, the largest processor of organic cranberry in the world, has launched two distinctive nutraceutical cranberry ingredients for the natural health market, comprising dietary supplements and functional foods/beverages.
According to Stephen Lukawski, Sales and Marketing Manager for Fruit d’Or Nutraceuticals, a division of Fruit d’Or, Cran d’Or and its sibling Cran Naturelle Organic, are higher end cranberry ingredients which are both distinguished by being all-natural, 100 percent cranberry. “There are no excipients, carriers or other irrelevant additives, due to the company’s proprietary and innovative processing,” he says. “This affords the brand marketer a ‘cleaner’ cranberry that can perform in vivo the way Mother Nature intended.”

Fruit d’Or’s proprietary manufacturing process employs low temperature drying to prevent degradation of condensed tannins and proanthocyanidins (PACS), thereby preserving antioxidant capabilities. The whole cranberry contains more active functional compounds which are enriched through a natural physical process. In addition, the ingredients feature a proprietary time-release delivery system — BIO PAC technology — that delivers the powerful (PACs) proanthocyanidins over a 24-hour time period. “Both Cran d’Or and Cran Naturelle contain a unique delivery technology that offers greater absorption by protecting and shielding the gastric acids from destroying the PACS in the stomach,” Lukawski explains. “BIO PAC technology will deliver max absorption of the proanthocyanidins through the stomach and into the lower GI.”
Unlike other cranberry powders, both Cran d’Or and Cran Naturelle are a rich burgundy in color, free from carriers, flow agents and excipients, reflecting the density and potency of starting material: “The unique natural manufacturing process, unlike other cranberry powders in the marketplace delivers a minimum ratio of 55:1 (55 pounds of pure fresh cranberry to produce one pound of nutraceutical cranberry powders), means that there is at least four times more antioxidants than one would obtain by drinking pure cranberry juice,” Lukawski comments.
Further, the pure cranberry oil is made from a patent pending manufacturing process that delivers a balance of Omega 3 and 6 Essential fatty acids, plus tocotrienols. According to lab results by an independent accredited third party, a daily dose of 500 mg of our whole natural cranberry powder enriched with the cranberry skins, protein powder and seed oil will deliver at least 60 mg of proanthocyanidins (PACs), and a minimum guarantee of at least 10%- to as high as 16% PACs which, Lukawski says, is possibly the “strongest potency of all natural cranberry supplements in the industry.”
